Hello fellow small animal lovers,
You might be sad to leave your pets when you're on a trip. We always were. But we want you to know that your pet is going to have a blast (while still staying safe) while you're away! We will make sure your pet has a variety of fun activities, or they can just kick their paws back and relax while munching on their favorite healthy foods.
We have petsat guinea pigs for years! Our first client, Mr. Moo, was a jolly old fellow. He was a shy little guy, but still enjoyed his stay, He warmed up to us as we got to know each other. We also watched two cute little guinea pig brothers named Bean and Moe. They sure gobbled up their lettuce and parcel! They also loved to eat dandelions in our backyard.

Our sister had a hamster named Buttons. Mr. Buttons was a very sleepy little fellow. He liked to run on his saucer, hide food, burrow, and stuff his cheeks with food like this:

Kara and Bethany cared for Mr. Buttons while our sister was away at college. He always enjoyed his mango treats, with healthy pellets for his main meal! Mr. Buttons rated us 5,000 out of 10 stars! He didn't understand how reviews work.
And we also like bunnies!
If you're leaving your pet on a holiday, don't worry! You're in luck, they'll still be having fun! For Easter, they'll have an Easter Egg Hunt, with a twist! For guinea pigs, we'll cut sweet potatoes into tiny egg shapes, smush raspberries up and roll the sweet potato in them. To finish it off, we'll rip pieces of parsley up and put them on top. Then we'll hide the little eggs around their enclosure and wait for your pet to sniff them out and gobble them up! For your bunny, we'll take one bunny pellet and wrap it up in hay to make it look like an Easter egg and tie a piece of parsley around it to keep it together. Then we'll hide the little treats around their enclosure. For hamsters, you can cut a banana into the shape of a tiny easter egg and stick sunflower seeds into the banana. For gerbils, you can make lots of Easter eggs. You can cut vegetables in the shape of easter eggs and hide them in their sand bath, or do the same thing with smooshed up hay.
Now we can get into the fun things your pet will experience at their stay!
Game #1
Here's a fun game that we would play with your hamster, guinea pig, or bunny: The Cup Game. You can play this game with your pet too! You need plastic or paper cups. Make sure they are very light, so your pet can pick them up. Place a cucumber under the cups, by your pet. See if your pet will realize that they need to turn over the cup to get the delicious treat!
Game #2
Treasure hunt! The first step of this game is to take a small cardboard box and cut the front of it so your bunny or guinea pigs can get in easily. Put a bit of hay at the bottom. Then put one or two treats in the box, on top of the hay. Then put more hay on top of the treats. Then add more treats. Do the same thing until the box is full! Give your pet a workout while they munch on their favorite treats! You can do the same for hamsters, but use bedding instead of hay. You might want to place your hamster on top of the bedding, since they are smaller, and it might be harder for them to get in.
If your pet is staying at Christmas time, then they will all receive a special present that's fit for them and their species, and they can bring it home! If it is your pet's birthday, then we will give them a birthday present. If you would like to give them a birthday present on their birthday when you're not there, we can give it to your pet and tell them it's from you.
On Halloween, if your pets are ok with it, we can dress them up in a costume, but not fully. Just a little hat or a tiara, like this little guy:
Or maybe your little guy would prefer sunglasses or a scarf. Of course they would also receive some of their favorite treats. If you're not able to participate yourself, we'll take photos of their adventures. You could either get a picture sent to you every day, or if your pets are having a longer stay, get a few photos sent every week, or get printed photos from us when you get back. This is all completely complimentary. If your pets are staying with us and you do not want their picture to be posted on this blog, then please mention it in the email. If you didn't know, you can email us for petsitting at faykg@yahoo.com.
